Names have power.
I have been referring to my home as The Fox Den for a few years now. It truly has been a place of safety and comfort, a place where my little fox self could hide out and be held tightly.
In the first Lord of the Rings movie, Galadriel says: The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.
And so it is now, in this world.
Thus, I have renamed my home Asteria House. My husband’s parents found us a large star to put on the house, a beacon, a sign to the world that this house harbors light and hope:

Asteria is a Greek Titan, Goddess of falling stars and nighttime divinations. As falling stars symbolize good luck and a great change, may my home be a haven and a refuge and a place where great change is birthed.
Have you named your home? If so, I would love to hear about its name in the comments.
My home is named “Owl’s Retreat”. Owls see beyond illusions to what is real, looking through the mask of darkness, so they’re both intuitive and prophetic. They are shapeshifters, being what is needed while they facilitate change, transitions. Owls are guardians and guides to the Dead, escorting them from here to there. And they have a really cool song, which I heard as a child on summer nights, through my bedroom window. I still hear them sometimes here, at night when the window’s open. 🙂
The unofficial name of my house is “the Crows Nest”… but yes, change is in the air. That’s why the Honey House became the Hexen Haus this month.
